Role of Ben Stokes in CSK: This time, England all rounder Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 16.25 crore in the mini auction. But he can bat only in the opening match of IPL 2023. Despite losing the fifth bowler, skipper Dhoni did not give the ball to Stokes. Because currently Stokes is not fully fit for bowling. After the match, when CSK coach Stephen Fleming was asked about this, he gave a detailed answer.
Fleming said, ‘Stokes got enough time between the last Test match and coming to India for the IPL and during this time he was treated for a knee injury. We want Ben to take the right decision on this and bowl when he is 100% fit.
‘He’s not at that level yet’
Fleming said, ‘He is not at that (bowling) fitness level at the moment. Right now he is not in the right rhythm even in bowling. We are working with him and he is making good progress. We are very satisfied with what he has done so far and I think he also feels very positive about his efforts and progress. Fleming said that when he started bowling, it was like an extra contribution to his team.
Even in batting, Stokes is getting some color
In the opening match of IPL 2023, Ben Stokes managed only 7 runs off 6 balls. He is not in the right rhythm even in batting at present. He played a match-winning innings for England in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2022, but apart from that match, he was unable to add much color in the entire T20 World Cup.
